Environmental Remediation

Environmental Remediation

Environmental Remediation

For natural wildlife habitats, beach and shoreline, and marshland, environmental remediation and preservation are very beneficial.

Environmental remediation is necessary for the removal of pollution or contaminants from environmental media such as groundwater, sediment or surface water.

Environmental dredging can significantly impact human health and the environment. Environmental dredging demands the highest level of precision to ensure that project objectives are fully satisfied. EDE needs excels in environmental remediation and stands ready to manage these critical projects fully.

Ecosystem Restoration

Environmental remediation is beneficial to both the local recreational and natural wildlife habitats.  The natural flow of material and seasonal storm surges can choke off channels that feed freshwater to inland wetlands or ponds.  Dredging these channels allows water to circulate in and out of these inland sites, bringing in nutrients and flushing out waste.

Without routine maintenance dredging, lake properties decline significantly as access to docks diminishes and once clear water becomes murky and lacks any visibility. As silt and nutrients overtake a lake, the result can be heavy vegetation, and algae build up eventually leading to a state of eutrophication and death of the local fish population due to hypoxia or lack of oxygen. Dredging can prevent eutrophication and can also reverse the process in most cases.

Dredges are used in lakes to increase property value, restore public lakes for tourism, and to clean contaminated lakes for future generations to enjoy.

Coastal Protection

For many communities, recreational beach space is essential to the town’s character and local economy. The wear of winter storms can erode beaches to the point where dredging becomes necessary.

Lagoons

EDE is proud of its roots in the wastewater lagoon industry. The first Versi-Dredge was launched in a wastewater lagoon in 1986. EDE dredges are used by the world’s leading chemical, oil and gas producers, and environmental contractors and can be used in a variety of industrial applications including oil and gas drilling mud lagoons.

All products come standard with cable drive provisions so an operator can switch from Starwheel Drive self-propulsion mode and run the dredge on a 2-point or 4-point shore anchor drive system when dredging lined wastewater treatment plant ponds. Whether you are dredging municipal sludge, hog farm ponds, or a lime sludge pond, an EDE Dredge is the right tool for the application.
